Power Management Enhancements in the 45 nm

چکیده
Intels processors based on the original 45nm Intel Coret microarchitecture, originally referred to by the codename Penryn, improved the energy efficiency and performance per watt of the Intel Core microarchitecture. This paper discusses the new technologies introduced in the Penryn family of processors that enabled lower idle power and higher performance levels. The Penryn family of processors builds on the powermanagement capabilities of the Intel processors based on 65nm Intel Core microarchitecture, originally referred to by the codename Merom, and takes them to the next level of idle power reduction and multi-core Enhanced Dynamic Acceleration Technology performance. The Penryn family of processors took very aggressive goals for idle power reduction in mobile, desktop, and server platforms. All features have been demonstrated to be fully functional on silicon and meet or beat the expectations of power reduction and increased performance. In fact, most of these features have already been enabled on the products that are currently shipping. Furthermore, the Penryn family of processors introduced new processor sleep states and Dynamic Acceleration mode on Intel Core 2 Quad processors for the first time in Intel to enable the acceptance of quad core as a mainstream product.

We present an 8.0-Gb/s HyperTransportTM technology I/O built in a 32-nm SOI-CMOS processor for highperformance servers. Based on a 45-nm design that caps at 6.4 Gb/s, the 32-nm transceiver achieves up to 8.0 Gb/s over long-reach board channels. Key enhancements include a high-bandwidth (>200 MHz) PLL to attenuate highfrequency jitter in the received forwarded clock and redesigned power-hungry c...
متن کاملExperimental Investigation of Magnetic Nanoparticle-Enhanced Microwave Hyperthermia
The objective of this study was to evaluate microwave heating enhancements offered by iron/iron oxide nanoparticles dispersed within tissue-mimicking media for improving efficacy of microwave thermal therapy. The following dopamine-coated magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) were considered: 10 and 20 nm diameter spherical core/shell Fe/Fe₃O₄, 20 nm edge-length cubic Fe₃O₄, and 45 nm edge-length/10 nm...

We report major enhancements in the overall performance of continuous-wave singly-resonant optical parametric oscillators (cw SROs) through finite output coupling of the resonant wave. Using a cw SRO based on MgO:sPPLT pumped at 532 nm, we demonstrate improvements of 1.08 W in total output power, 10% in total extraction efficiency, and a 130-nm extension in the useful tuning range, while mainta...
